DOCO Credit Union is celebrating its 60th year in business.
In May 1959, Dougherty County School Employees Federal Credit Union was chartered as a benefit for the employees of the Dougherty County School System. The first member was Dr. Ronald Culpeper who served on the Board of Directors and the first Board Chairman was Mr. J.G. Sowell.
The credit union changed its name in 2003 to DOCO Regional Federal Credit Union and again in 2012 to DOCO Credit Union as it branched out to include additional school systems, counties, organizations and member groups.
Over the past 60 years, DOCO has seen mergers with other credit unions, the addition of new counties and an increase in products with upgraded services. The most substantial change has been the expansion of the field of membership. In 1959, only school system employees were eligible to join. Today, the credit union serves the majority of the population in 21 counties are now able to be served.
